Lewis Hamilton dominates Russian GP

Lewis Hamilton claimed his ninth win of the year and his fourth in a row, after dominating the Russian Grand Prix.

The victory also ties him with Nigel Mansell’s British record for 31 Grand Prix wins, throughout his 8 year Formula One Career.

Meanwhile, the Brit’s teammate, Nico Rosberg fought back after a first-lap error to claim second place, sealing the constructors title for Mercedes. Rosberg now trails behind his teammate by just 17 points, with 3 races remaining this season.

The title battle is now essentially down to the two Mercedes drivers as Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, who is in third place, is 92 points adrift of Hamilton.

Russia’s first Formula One race was attended by its President, Vladimir Putin, who was instrumental in realizing F1 boss, Bernie Ecclestone’s 30 year desire to have a race there.

The Russian government is said to have paid $50 million dollars to host the race, making it the largest hosting fee of any Grand Prix.
