Datuk Seri Dr. Hasmiza Othman, or commonly known as Datuk Seri Vida is set to join the list of elite individuals, which include Tan Sri Vincent Tan, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Datuk Dr. Noordin Ahmad, after she admitted that she is interested in buying a club in Europe.
The Pamoga Qu Puteh The Red Warriors (PQPTRW) owner will announce the decision after the process of scouting a few clubs in Europe by assessing their potential is completed.
“I have been thinking about owning a club in Europe for quite some time now. However, I will need to analyze the costs involved as well as perform a number of background checks on the management of the clubs,” Datuk Seri Vida said as quoted by Berita Harian.
“The choice that I make has to be worth the amount of investment that is put in. I have been so eager to be one of the main contributors in Malaysian football since taking over Kelantan.”
The Vida Beauty founder would be the first woman in Malaysia to own an European football club after Vincent Tan (Cardiff City), Tony Fernandes (QPR) and Noordin Ahmad (Bari). She said her recent visits to Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, London and Istanbul helped her assess the potential of the clubs in the leagues of those countries to assist her decision making.
At the moment, her primary goal is to help the PQPTRW squad further progress in the future.
“I will never leave Kelantan if I buy another club. There will be upcoming plans to help the development of football in Kelantan and in country, so we just have to wait and see.
“Kelantan is my team, and now I want to gain something bigger than that,” she concluded.
