National men’s singles shuttler, Chong Wei Feng has decided to withdraw himself from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), following in the footsteps of Liew Darren, who also left the association in January.
Wei Feng submitted a letter to appeal his withdrawal yesterday, after serving with BAM for more than 10 years. He will officially leave BAM on the 1st of May.
According to Harian Metro, BAM’s Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria confirmed that they had received the letter and that his decision will be respected.
This comes as no surprise, considering that Wei Feng has often struggled to make an impression on the international stage. That being said, his brighest achievements for the country came in the form of a gold medal at the 2015 Singapore SEA Games, besides finishing second at the 2014 Thomas Cup in New Delhi.
