TMJ hails UltraSel for being ‘legends’ of Malaysian football

Selangor fans would probably be gutted at this point after their team succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Johor DT earlier today, but those present at Larkin Stadium were given a heroic tribute by the Johor Crown Prince himself.

Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, who resigned from his role as the President of Johor FA yesterday, delivered an inspiring speech at the end of the game.

While the speech was mainly directed towards JDT fans, he started off by thanking the UltraSel movement, for their constant and unwavering support, despite Selangor’s struggles on the night.

“I would like to first welcome and thank members of the UltraSel movement for coming all the way here to support the Selangor players,” he said.

“Irrespective of the result from tonight’s game, every single one of you are legends of Malaysian football.”

TMJ, as he is fondly known within the state, then went on to speak about his resignation and he also reaffirmed that his decision to quit will not affect all the short-term and long-term plans of the Johor Football Association.

“For your information, I recently resigned from being the President of Johor FA. But, this doesn’t mean that football in Johor will no longer develop and grow.

“I don’t need to be the President to ensure the growth of football in this state. I don’t need to be a ‘Royal Patron’ for that to happen as well, because I have every single one of you here to push for the growth.

“But don’t worry, I’ll always be around here, for football or any other state-related affairs. We will always be united as one,” he added.
